I have extensive experience in marketing, PR, business development and technical management and have held director level management roles since 1988. In addition to operational management, I also have outstanding presentation skills and often serve as company spokesman on both business and technical subjects

Ascential Software

Marketing and Business Development Director, Northern Europe

n     Development of integrated marketing programmes to generate leads and create market awareness.

n     Creation and execution of messaging programmes to raise visibility with press and industry analysts.

n     Establishment of a weekly ‘suspect validation’ process to deliver highly profiled account information to the sales force.

n     Engagement with tactical partners to develop and execute lead generation programmes.

n     Execution of business development programmes for Ascential’s strategic alliances (IBM, SAP, etc) involving sales and technical training, management engagement, local opportunity sharing and ongoing lead generation activities.

Computer Associates

In my 15 years at CA I had a wide variety of roles, both local and European. Throughout that time, the company grew from 1500 to 22,000 employees and from $400 million to >$4 billion in turnover. In addition to the roles listed below, I was also a keynote speaker at CA’s European executive events and a frequent keynote speaker at other industry events.

1997-2000                                                                                  

Marketing and PR Director, Western Europe

n     Responsible for UK and Ireland, Nordic, Benelux, Iberia, France, Israel and South Africa

n     Creation and execution of pan European marketing and messaging campaigns

n     Responsible for regional product management

n     Managed a team of 60 people in 11 countries and a multi million pound marketing/PR/advertising budget.

1995-1996                                                                                 

UK Marketing and PR Manager

n     Responsible for creation and delivery of Marketing, PR and ‘Inside Sales’ programmes for UK and Ireland

n     Responsible for local product management

1993-1994                                                                                 

UK CRM Manager

n     Managed a team of UK Customer Service Representatives

n     Ensured that customers were happy with the company commercially and that they were getting the most out of their investment from a technical standpoint

n     Responsible for renewal license revenue in the client base.

1992                                                                                            

European Product Management

n     Part of a team of European Product Managers

n     Team acted as ‘product evangelists’ for European customers, prospects and press

n     Gathered European requirements which were fed back into engineering

n     Responsible for analyst briefings in the region.

1990-1991                                                                                 

UK Technical Director

n     Managed a team of over 100 technicians divided into local development, hotline support, consulting and pre-sales support

n     Covered all of CA’s products at the time which included systems management products, application development tools and financial applications

n     Worked closely with US R&D to ensure consistency of execution

n     Managed a team of pre sales SEs

n     Responsible for CA’s systems management products which were divided into 5 main groups (operations, security, performance, storage management and help desk)

Electronic Data Systems (EDS)

n     Engaged in a number of roles including trainer for corporate education and application developer and systems analyst for EDS’s health care systems. Moved from US to UK in 1984 as EDS expanded into Europe.
